Disclaimer

Please note the Food For Life ad on the right and contribute as much as you can possibly manage. I realize that many of the things on this page are incompatible with Srila Prabhupada and his mission, but I fully support most of the things the devotees are doing, even if I feel I will not be able to live up to their standard. I will say that I have areas of disagreement as well, especially with to the restriction on sex life, and also the concentration on nothing but Krishna through temple worship, books, prasadam chanting. However I am willing to admit that the other things that I still want to hold onto only seem of great importance when I am not engaged with the devotees at the temple. Perhaps it is the case that Maya is very strong. I remember being at the temple a few years ago after some wonderful kirtan, and nothing esle mattered at that moment: sex life, my academic interests, and of course the usual boatload of fears and resentments was gone.

Regardless of these "issues" I can heartily endorse Food for Life and the vegetarian lifestyle generally, if you take care to keep it healthy. In my case even if I continue to be a defective crumb at least I will have eliminated the defect of being an agent of animal slaughter. I have always loved animals and from an early age felt that killing them was wrong. I liked fishing when I was a kid until I watched my Dad clean a fish that I had caught. I also thought hard even about the idea of putting the worm on the hook. I wasn't squeamish I just felt it was wrong to do these things. Ever since then I have tried at different times to live on a good vegetarian diet. Right now I am pretty comfortable with a vegan diet, I would love to include dairy but my screwed up body (see previous chronic fatigue syndrome and hydrogen sulphide posts) cannot handle much fat content in foods, and perhaps cholesterol as well. The vegan diet allows me to dump both high fat and cholesterol and I don't resemble Kate Moss yet....

If anyone can tell me how to dovetail my interest in Dinosaurs into Krishna Consciouness that would be great. I have a few ideas, but maybe they are just rationalizations.

Anyway Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare.. and please forgive me, Srila Prabhupada.. I am certainly most fallen...
